2 day / 12h Workshop with Joe Bill
One of my top passions in Improvisational Theater is performing in, coaching, and directing Improvised Duos. I love working with brand new Duos to help them find their voice and style and experienced Duos who may be looking for either a refresher or to just up your game. You will come as yourself (without a duo partner!) and after an hour or so of my observing your improvising in some scenes and exercises, I’ll pair you with another person (and tell you why/what I see as the potential) and take you through the process of the beginning steps of Duo Play in order to get ready for a short improv Duo Showcase Set. I will watch the Duo Showcase and take notes and then on Day 2 I will give feedback to talk about what went well and what to build upon. These steps will be very helpful to experience, whether you remain with the Duo partner that you work with in the workshop or to begin working in another Duo going forward.
Joe Bill is widely regarded as one of the best teachers of Improvised Storytelling and Scenic, Longform & Duo Improvisation in North America today. He is one of the founding members of Annoyance Theater Chicago. Joe is ½ of the first touring Improv Duo in North America, BASSPROV, created in 2000 with Mark Sutton. Since then Joe’s been touring all over the world teaching, directing, and improvising with several other amazing Duo Partners like Patti Stiles (Our Play), Jill Bernard (SCRAM!), Stacey Hallal (Stacey & Joe, We Slept Together) Lee White (Paradigm), Heather Urquart (Blues Hammer), Felipe Ortiz (Les Disciplinos) and David Razowsky (Razowsky & Bill), ALL in different, original formats and styles.
Level: Intermediate to advanced level improvisers. You should have some stage experience.
Sat & Sun, 10 AM - 5 PM
Workshop includes a showcase Saturday evenening. You should be open to that.
Participation fee: 250€ (15 € registration fee, 235€ per wire)
Note Once registered, you have 5 business day to wire the remaining fee. Otherwise, your registration will be cancelled and the initial registration fee will not be refunded.
If you need to cancel your participation, you can do that 2 weeks prior to the event and you will get a refund (minus a 15€ service fee). After that, we cannot give you a refund, unless we get someone from the waiting list. But you can give your seat to someone else. For questions contact us per Email: workshops@viennaimprov.org.
There will also be a "Show with Joe" on Sunday evening.
