CLIMATE CHANGE THEATER ACTION 2025: THE TIME IS NOW!
17.11.2025, 19:00 - 21:00 Uhr | Hörsaal D | Philturm, Hamburg
This event is free of charge. If you'd like to support the work of the University Players, you can buy a voluntary ticket here.
Launched in 2015, Climate Change Theatre Action is a global festival of short plays focused on the climate crisis, presented biennially in conjunction with the United Nations COP conferences. In conjunction with the English studies seminar "Climate Activism and/in Theatre" and under the artistic direction of Henny Fleischmann und Levke Steinert, the University Players have workshopped seven short plays that address various aspects of individual, communal, and political responses to climate change, from ridiculous PR spins by officials (Six Polar Bears) to individual choices around pregnancy and birth (Eco Abortion). Under the heading "The Time is Now", the evening seeks to find rays of hope in what is often perceived as a difficult topic and inspire meaningful conversation and positive pathways towards imagining sustainable futures.
Speakers
Dr. Klara Stumpf (Alfred Töpfer Stiftung) will speak about her background in environmental and sustainability studies, focusing also on her work at the Alfred Töpfer Stiftung as it pertains to sustainable land use.
Ionuţ Burlacu (M.A. Sportwissenschaft) will discuss the connection between climate and physical movement.
Annika Kruse (Hamburger Zukunftsentscheid) will discuss the movement and its next steps following successful referendum.
